Ciao a tutti! Torna il 5 Novembre l'evento Canstruction, un'esibizione di sculture fatte di sole lattine di cibo, il comune cibo in scatola non deperibile che usiamo ogni giorno ma che prende una nuova forma creando delle opere rappresentanti personaggi ispirati a temi sociali , storici o di fantasia; la creativita' e' la vera e propria regina e le sculture sono veramente imponenti!
L'evento e' una competizione tra studi di design e architettura ma ha anche uno scopo benefico: infatti alla fine le lattine utilizzate verranno donate in beneficenza a City Harvest : tonno e sardine, pomodori, pasta. La mostra competizione si tiene dal 5 al 16 Novembre dalle 10 am alle 6pm inclusi i weekends al Brookfield Place nell'atrio Winter Garden al 250 Vesey Street . Non e' un evento che riguarda solo New York, perche' queste sculture sono esibite anche in giro per gli USA e oltre i confini. L'evento e' gratuito e si richiede almeno di partecipare portando anche voi qualche scatoletta di cibo (cibo in scatola di qualità, ma non e' obbligatorio) come donazione e consegnarlo ai volontari.

Per chi non lo sapesse il Brookfield Place e' un grande complesso a ridosso del World Trade Center, centro uffici ma dotato anche di un centro commerciale con diversi negozi e un grande padiglione dove si può' mangiare. Troverete al suo interno un giardino tropicale dove sono posizionate le sculture e dove si può' comodamente sedere e mangiare. E' il posto ideale per fare una pausa quando si visita il sito del World Trade Center, ci sono aree sosta, negozi, bagni pulitissimi, come gia' detto il grande padiglione con vista dove potrete comodamente mangiare seduti diversi tipi di cucina. Ho dedicato un post a questo luogo che e' in crescita come del resto tutta l'area dopo gli eventi dell'11 Settembre finalmente torna a rivivere. Inoltre dalla parte ovest si può' passeggiare sul lungomare che e' veramente bello. E poi di fronte a questa zona si trova anche il buon ristorante Shake Shack famoso per i suoi Hamburger e Milkshakes. Ecco il post
Hello my friends! I am not sure if you ever heard of this event but i can assure you it is very inspiring and lots of fun! The event is called Canstruction, and it's a competitions between architectural firms, designers and constructors to create massive sculpture made with the use of canned food. Yes you heard me, unused can food used to create sculptures inspired by cartoons, history, society and everything the human mind can come up with! The event is so important because it has also a charity purpose. At the end of the exhibition all of the canned food will be donated to City Harvest. The event is free but attendees are encouraged to bring a donation, unused high quality canned food to benefit City Harvest. Whatever you can! The event is held at 250 Vesey Street from November 5th to the 16th 10 am 6pm , at the Winter Garden in Brookfield Place. If yu want to see what 's the fuzz is all about check my old post here . Enjoy! I will stress as long as I can in talking about this area because it is a growing area who is developing so much after the events of 9/11 and it really deserves more business and visitors! At the same location now you can find a lot of cool high end stores and a mega food pavilion where to comfortably eat while seating and enjoying the view of the Hudson River. Enjoy!
