Ricordando Marilyn...

Ciao a tutti, oggi mentre mi recavo ad un appuntamento di lavoro mi sono imbattuta in questa vetrina, che mi ha ricordato che fra poco sara' il 50esimo anniversario della morte della mitica Marilyn Monroe.
Non era bellissima e sensuale? Hello everybody! Today while i was going to a business meeting i walked past this window and they reminded us all that on August 5th would be the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's death. She was really a true icon, such a beautiful woman.

Comunque visto che sono passata per Madison Square park , sulla 5th Avenue e 23rd Strada ho scattato qualche foto...beh non sono molte perche' poi sono dovuta scappare visto che nuvoloni grigi si avvicinavano minacciosi ed io giro rigorosamente senza ombrello (non perche non lo voglia portare, ma perche sono sbadata e lo dimentico spesso in giro), ma ho fatto anche qualche foto panoramica dal 20simo piano del palazzo in cui mi recavo! Purtroppo visto il tempo e visto che andavo di fretta sono venute un po scure...pero datemi merito che mentre lavoro penso anche a condividere con voi Manhattan ! Anyway as i walked through Madison Square part, on 5th Avenue and 23rd Street, i made few pictures. Sorry they are limited and dark but the clouds were bouncing in over the city and i never keep my umbrella with me so i had to make it fast! But at least you can acknowledge that i thought about you also while working right?

Questa e' una zona abbastanza caotica, e ovviamente un incredibile numero di persone affollava la piazza ed il parco, mi ricordo ancora quando non era diventata area pedonale, mentre ora ci sono i tavolini, le sedie, insomma diciamo che questa area e' migliorata tantissimo. Certo cosi' e' molto piu vivibile anche se il traffico ovviamente e' peggiorato. Madison Square Park e' un grazioso parco che nell'ora di pranzo si popola di lavoratori in pausa, in fila al famosissimo Shake Shack (varie location in giro per Manhattan) dicono che l'hamburger abbia un sapore unico (non posso confermare, sono vegetariana!) ma le patatine di sicuro posso concordare con gli altri, sono buonissime. Il parco inoltre ospita varie opere d'arte durante l'anno, parchi giochi per bambini ed un immancabile parco per gli amici a quattro zampe. Tutto rigorosamente in una cornice di palazzoni, e di fronte al tanto fotografato Flat Iron Building,si proprio quello a forma triangolare, a ferro da stiro! Di fronte poi, da poco piu di un anno si trova il famigerato (famigerato per noi Italiani) Eataly, si proprio il mercato delle delizie Italiane, originariamente nato a Torino mi pare, e poi allargatosi ad altre zone nel mondo, tra cui ovviamente New York. Se volete trovare specialita' Italiane e bere un ottimo espresso dovete proprio venire qui, e non manca una buona gelateria. Inoltre all'interno ci sono ristoranti vari per tutti i gusti, carne verdure, paste e pizza, focacceria ed anche un pub Birreria molto frequentato. Troverete molti molti Italiani, per cui se venite qui in vacanza per evadere dall'Italia almeno qualche giorno forse e' meglio evitare.....un giorno quando ero con un mio amico Americano a bere un caffe mi fece ridere chiedendomi incredulo "ma scusa se sono Italiani e turisti ma che ci vengono a fare qui da Eataly? e addirittura che fanno a fare le fotografie??" come per dire queste cose ce le abbiamo a casa, cosa c'e' di tanto interessante??? ahah beh in fin dei conti ha ragione, ma vai a spiegargli che gli Italiani sono legati al proprio paese! Comunque prima di fare la spesa qui da Eataly fatevi due conti nel carrello...i prezzi sono salati! This area of the city is pretty chaotic and many many people were strolling around the park and on the streets. i remember many years ago this area was not as people friendly as it is today; now the park is well kept , there are benches and umbrellas where to sit and enjoy lunch in front of the Flat Iron building. Furthermore this side of fifth Avenue, from 23rd Street down, has been enriched with supercool stores so it became a shopping area as well. Madison Square Park is a cute not too large park where people can rest while on their break lunches, eat and chat. There is a famous hamburger place just inside the park and people swear by it. It's called Shake Shack and deserve a try. Although i can't say anything about the hamburger as I'm a vegetarian, the french fries and shakes are pretty nice! The park also features kids play area, artworks year round and the usual dog run. Everything is sorrounded by the beautiful buldings which almost seems to fall over and choke this little piece of green. In front of the park, little more than a year ago, opened its doors Eataly the place where to find all the best in Italian food. If you are in the mood for a good espresso or a nice ice cream i'd say "go" . For ourselves, being Italians, it's a must go as we can find all our pretty little things which remind us of our beloved country. If you want to have a nice Italian meal im sure you wont' be disappointed as well.
