New York e l&#39;arte

Mi sono trovata molte volte a chiedermi come mai amo questa citta' e nelle mie tante risposte non mancava mai questa: per l'arte e la cultura. A New York l'arte si ammira, si scambia, si crea. L'arte e' un valore, e' futuro e specialmente e' comunicazione.

Molto spesso la si trova nei parchi, nelle strade, nei marciapiedi che dividono una strada, e nelle piazze. E poi sulle bancarelle degli aspiranti artisti sparsi per le strade di Soho a West Broadway, nelle gallerie di Chelsea e negli studi di Brooklyn. E nei musei e nelle case d'aste. E quello che mi emoziona di piu' e' che puoi passare di fronte ad un opera di uno studente appena laureato alla Parson School of Design sui marchiapiedi di Soho a downtown e un ora dopo essere di fronte ad un quadro di Jackson Pollock quotato 50 milioni di dollari ad pochi blocchi piu a nord. Non e' magnifico? non ci sono boundaries ovvero non ci sono confini e l'arte e' proprio questo, sconfina dalla realta' ed esce fuori da ogni schema.

A New York puoi godere dell'arte pagando un costo irrisorio a volte addirittura gratuitamente. E dove puoi vedere le piu' belle opere di arte moderna contemporanea gratuitamente se non a New York ? Un paio di settimane fa appunto, mi sono trovata per caso delle opere magnifiche di fronte agli occhi e come una ragazzina ho passato un pomeriggio intero ad ammirare e sognare. Ero andata da Christie's la famosa casa d'aste del mondo nella loro location al Rockfeller Plaza per affari e mi sono trovata di fronte il viewing di un asta sensazionale. Per voi che non siete molto esperti di aste, il viewing e' praticamente la giornata dove e' possibile visionare le opere che poi andranno all'asta i giorni successivi, fare domande, appuntarsi le varie note e diciamolo anche, tastare il terreno. L'asta era precisamente la Post War & Contemporary art auction e trattava artisti e opere fantastiche ovviamente se apprezzate l'arte contemporanea: opere di Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol, De Kooning, Rothko,Hopper,Basquiat e tanti altri, opere di collezionisti privati che non vedrete praticamente piu'e che non si possono vedere ai musei. Opere da milioni e milioni di dollari, tutte li' da ammirare gratuitamente per tutto il tempo che si vuole, per sognare e fantasticare. Per me potere essere davanti a queste opere anche per una frazione di tempo e' impagabile.

Hello you all! it's been a long time i know i've been busy (again) and i've been travelling as well! but i'm back now. I'm back in my beloved New York! So many times I've asked myself why i love this city and i have had answered with so many reasons. Among all of these answers there's one i never miss to mention: because of the art. In New York you can admire art, exchange it, create it. Art is a value, it's future and it's communication, art connects us all through a non human factor which i would not even describe as beauty but something ethereal, above the common conceptions of life. In New York you can find art on the streets, in the parks, on the stands in downtown, in art galleries, museums in the artists studios . The best part is that you can pass in front of a school graduate work of art on the streets of Soho and few blocks away stand in front of a 50 millions Jackson Pollock work. Isn't this unimaginable? And you do not need to spend too much money to admire art, often is free, accessible for everyone, as it should be. Few days ago i was at Christie's the famous auction house in Rockfeller plaza for some business and there it was a fantastic viewing of postwar and contemporary art with artworks from the most acclaimed artists such as Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol, De Kooning, Rothko, Hopper , Basquiat and many more, artworks from private collectors something you will not see in museums . All there, available for the public to see. Even if i will never be able to afford any of it to me just getting the chance to see it in person is a gift. Neither to say i spent all afternoon with my mouth open, not only for the interesting pieces but also because of the money they were quoted for! If you are in New York i suggest to check what's going on in auction houses, it may be a surprise.
